Two Walks

Music makes my evening walks doable. I have downloaded some of my favorite numbers including some recent hits onto my ipod and off I go every evening. Without it, walking can be a challenge, at least for me.

The other day, I couldn't find my ipod and that drove me nuts. I couldn't remember where I put it the previous night and looked everywhere but to no avail. I almost didn't go for my walk. But the weather was nice, cool and pleasant, so I ended up going.

I am always glad when I stick to my routine. These walks rejuvenate me. I feel refreshed, healthy, active and good that I am doing something to keep myself physically fit. Even if I don't have my trusted ipod with me. But I did miss it terribly and all the music that I could have listened to. So its absence nagged me. As soon as I got home, I resumed my search for my prized possession. It never occurred to me to ask my kids because it is always kept out of their reach. Only once, just once, in the past, I had given it to D because he wanted to listen to it.

Hubby dear also joined me after seeing my desperation and both of us looked everywhere but we just couldn't find it. A mystery! D noticing the commotion asked whats happening and when I told him, he quickly dashed to the living room, and pulled it out from under one of the cushions! I gave him a stern look and before I could question his actions, he guiltily said,

I-'hide'-it-because-I-didn't-want-you-to-go-for-a-walk-I-miss-you-when-you-go-I-want-to-go-with-you-too-but-I -know-I-cannot-because-you-walk-really-fast.

One rapid sentence. One breadth.

My heart just melted. I pulled him and gave him a nice, tight hug.

And now to make up for it, I go for two walks. One for fitness and one with my son, a short one, right after dinner and before his bedtime.

Needless to say, I enjoy the latter much more even if there is no music.
