Homeward Bound

I am going ‘home’ in a few weeks. It’s strange that I still refer to India as home. I have lived in the US for the past eight years. This is where I belong now but my heart still tugs for India. I left her without much thought, excited about starting a new life with a new partner, thrilled about finding my ‘soul-mate’, the mystery of the foreign land enticing me. But I yearn for the place that made me. I miss the people, the food, the relationships, the chaos, its diversity and uniqueness.

My face breaks into a smile as fleeting thoughts of my sojourn criss-cross my mind. It’s beginning to sink in now. Three years, it has been. So many changes, new places, new faces and I can’t wait to immerse myself in it all. Get lost, not in translation or transition but it its beauty, love and charm.

From one of my favorite songs....
Oh, well I'm going home,
Back to the place where I belong,
And where your love has always been enough for me.
I'm not running from.
No, I think you got me all wrong.
I don't regret this life I chose for me.
But these places and these faces are getting old.
I said these places and these faces are getting old,So I'm going home.I'm going home.
