We had a laid back Christmas. Weather was unexpectedly nice-sunny and bright. The day started off with D waking up and wanting to go downstairs and checking his gifts that Santa brought for him. Usually he prefers we take him down but on Christmas morning, he wanted to go by himself. Why? Because this is what the little boy in ‘Polar Express’ does.
Something’s in there, Mama! He said while touching the stocking over the fireplace. His face lighting up with glee and surprise. He was happy to see the ‘goodies’ Santa left for him – a mini train set, Spider man toppers, Snowman magnet and giant Spider man marshmallow lollipop- which of course was the best thing he got!
Next were the gifts under the Christmas tree- he ripped the paper almost mercilessly just to see whether Santa actually got him the gifts he wished for. He couldn’t have been happier- Star Wars Jedi Masters, Batman, Transformer, a Peter Pan puzzle book, Diego video game to name a few.
A was just content playing with the wrapping paper, tearing em’ up. She was more into pulling the ornaments off the tree rather than looking to see what she got as gifts.
Ten minutes later- toys, wooden blocks, action figures lay strewn across the room, some even spilling into the kitchen. A busy pulling out containers from one of the kitchen cabinets- her favorite past time. D lounging on the couch, watching his morning TV.
And Christmas – well, it was over! But it was good while it lasted, creating memories that will linger until the next one....
